Announcements

The third book fair has been moved to Friday, April 8 from 11:00 to 12:00.
Your book reports will be due on Thursday, April 7 by 9:30 a.m.
The fourth reading test has been moved to Monday, April 11 in class.

Classwork

Reviewed the answers to TOEFL Ex. R14.
Reviewed the vocabulary homework in NorthStar and discussed vocabulary.
Completed NorthStar, Ex. B, pg. 180.
Discussed the differences between modern medicine and alternative medicine.
Previewed "What Is Alternative Medicine?"

Homework

TOEFL packet, Ex. R12, pgs. 186-188 (This will help you to better identify synonyms and restatements.)
Read "What Is Alternative Medicine?" Identify the main pattern of organization and take notes that reflect that pattern.

Updated Late Policy

This policy replaces the confusing policy outlined in your syllabus. The updated policy will apply to all assignments for the second half of the semester.

1. If you are absent, you are responsible for any classwork, homework, quizzes and/or tests that you missed. I will not ask you for the work. I will simply post the assignments online daily. It is your job to consult this log or a classmate.

2. If I returned or handed out any papers in class, I will place them in my box in 103. You can then pick them up Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

3. Any homework can be made up within a week. You will lose 10% for each business day that it is late. The only exceptions are for doctors' notes and extreme emergencies.

4. If you miss a quiz or test, you should reschedule with me face-to-face or in a comment on the relevant posting. You should make-up the exam within one day of your return. Every day after that, you will lose one participation point.

5. If you make up classwork, you will regain your participation points.

6. If you make up homework, you will regain your homework points.
